Something happened in Majuli!

In February 2026, a group of strangers took a ferry to Majuli.

Over the next few days, we didn’t just move through Majuli, we stayed long enough for it to move through us.

Mornings in Majuli

MORNINGS

Mornings were soft and intentional.

Yoga on wet grass under the waking sun.

Comfortable silence that didn’t need filling.

Setting deep intentions for the creative day ahead.

AFTERNOONS

Afternoons stretched as we dove into craft.

Guided mask-making sessions with local keepers of the craft.

Turning abstract thoughts into something tangible.

Developing a "way of seeing" ourselves more clearly.

Nights in Majuli

NIGHTS

Nights were for unwinding and connection.

Local rice beers by the crackling bonfire.

Games, deep reflection sessions, and shared stories.

Laughter that echoed into the quiet island night.

Mentor Hemchandra

THE MENTOR

Guided by a Padmashree Artist, the mentor of Majuli's traditional mask-making Satra. Participants learn not just the physical art of shaping clay and bamboo, but the spiritual and philosophical significance behind the characters.

"The mask is not just to cover the face, but to reveal what is hidden inside."
